Here we go 2011!

New Year's resolution...in action. I really didn't make a list. Well, I typed out part of my thoughts on another blog I write for, but I didn't share all of my goals.

Part of my New Year's resolution (I do not add an "s" to the word, because to me it is one big change. It's gradual. If I do one thing on my list, it will lead to doing something else and so on and so on. So in my opinion, it needs no "s".) is to write. Everyday.

Everyday.

I shared with my friend Hannah (a writer) that if I don't feel "inspired" on any given day then I will simply force myself to write. I will look around the room and pick something...anything...to be my topic.

I am feeling inspired today but I can't focus on one idea floating around in my head.

So my eyes are scanning the room...

Furniture, Ethan, a fire going out, dust, The Moonstone (novel), cell phone, house phone, pencil sharpener, envelopes, Ethan, a camera, a mouse (of the electronic breed) a Steeler Tree, laundry, records, Ethan (he is very active today, keeps boucing around the room), my mantel...okay Jen...PICK one!

Envelopes

I really like envelopes. Envelopes are a story all their own! There can be so much mystery in one.

Especially a blank empty one! It is like looking into the unknown. What will that envelope one day contain?! How many hands will come in contact with that piece of folded, self-adhesive paper? A check, a birthday card, a letter to a dear friend, something that will make someone smile or cry? Something that could change someones life forever?!

You have to admit that when you are on the recieving end of an envelope from a friend there is more joy in that then an entire inbox full of messages.

I hope the mystery of an envelope never goes away.

Well...it's not much, but it's writing! I love how I feel when I write!

  1. Have you heard of Nablopomo? The challenge is to post every during the month you sign up. Of course, you are sort of out of luck for Jan in the prizes arena, but you could go there for some ideas. I know they give monthly themes if you want to write to that. They may give a topic a day. I know there is a website that does that but I don't know what it is. Good luck!
