Quiet

I love where I live.

For many who live in this area, they don't really like it. I can't understand why. Truly I cannot. Although I have only ever lived here. Therefore I cannot really speak of any point of view but my own.

I love that in my small part of the world I get to enjoy the four seasons.

Each season has special meaning to me.

Spring
I love spring because I love rain. The beauty and the smell. It could rain everyday in spring and I would not complain.

I love watching the flower buds in the ground. I love watching the trees transform from the plain beauty of their winter face into the freshness of their spring face.

The birds singing. The nests everywhere in yard.

That first feeling of warmth when you walk onto your porch. No more hint of cold.

Summer
I love summer because my children are home everyday.

My flowers truly reveal their beauty. After years of working on my flower garden it is really amazing to see it all each summer. To see which flowers really flourished and which ones need more care.

Summer is filled with weekend get-a-ways, week long get-a-ways, cook-outs with friends and family are a plenty.

Half-naked children running in the sprinklers.

Swings, sand-box, swimming!

Playdates with friends!

Vegetable gardening!

Summer just gives off this, "I have no worries in the world" type of feeling!

Later in the summer there will be canning! A new love of mine!

Fall
Oh fall! The cooling of the temperature.

The beauty of the leaves. Raking them! Jumping in them! The smell of them burning.

Pumpkins! Gourds!

Hayrides, applecider, apples, acorns, and bon-fires!

The beauty of the sky.

Winter

School cancellations and delays!

Warm fires!

Getting snowed in (while still having power and heat).

Cuddling on the couch to watch a movie as a family.

Having no place to go.

Soup and chili.

My most favorite thing about winter is the QUIET.

Snow is so quiet.

Snow demands respect.

As I am looking out my window right now I am reminded of it's power. It's sheer power.

Snow can be angry.

Snow can be gentle.

Snow can be a reminder of simplifying, of remembering, of slowing down.

Are you enjoying the quiet?
